Pillow Talk is a larger piece from a body of work called, Social Protocols. Through role-play and improvisation, I use conversation over multiple digital media to examine how people respond during hard situations.
Pillow Talk I: The first iteration required participants to experience a sequence of events leading to a break-up over email, text, audio call, video call, and finally, in-person.
Pillow Talk II: The second iteration included staged domesticity to invite comfort. Participants left their shoes at the door and stepped inside their bedroom. On picking up a drink and coaster, participants chose a specific prompt (’Rejection’, ‘Hurt’, ‘Amends’, ‘Heartbreak’) and a mode of communication (’Email’, ‘Text’, ‘Audio Call’) to enact with me.
